Yeah, I understand that an actual "middle-class" did not evolve until the mid 20th century. I was making a point within the context of the quote. I'm fairly sure my point is an obvious one and if you're going to argue that black people haven't been and aren't still being systemically disenfranchised, then this thread probably isn't the place to unpack that delusional attitude.
Care to elaborate on that?

Ill take up the argument that black people aren't still being systemically disenfranchised.
The reality is every one of the fortune 500 companies are frothing out the mouth to increase their diversity quotas.
The lack of representation, at this point is due to the fact that black people, on the whole, choose to embrace a lifestyle of degeneracy and criminality throughout their youth and early adulthood, subsequently shirking their education, scuttling their future prospects, and earning themselves a rap sheet before they reach an age and education level which would easily catapult them into the most lucrative job markets in the US.
Those who reject the media induced "black culture" are generally much better off than their white peers due to all of the systems in place which grant advantages to every people other than white people.
Now, we're approaching a topic where one would have assess the relative number of black people willing to reject the media-induced ideology of "black culture" in order to succeed in "american culture" and posit questions as to why more black people dont choose to accept the obviously more lucrative lifepath, but thats a matter for actual black people to answer for. As it stands, and like Biden said, "unlike the african american community, with the exception of notable exceptions, the Latino community is an incredibly diverse community with different attitudes about different things."
By the way, which ethnic group owns the 90% majority of the news media, creating, promoting, and perpetuating degenerative "black culture"? It's not "white" people.
