The feds are defending federal property, they have jurisdiction to be there, and are generally only tear gassing the angry mob of insane people when a firework mortar or ball bearing (both of which can easily kill somebody) comes flying at their skulls. But then of course a bunch of brave moms stand in front of the psycho idiot 20 year olds cosplaying revolutionaries and cnn gets to write a super objective article titled "feds tear gas MOMS??!?!".
Feds being bad (in cases where they actually are) is bad. Cops being bad is bad. Violent riots that needlessly destroy property and neighborhoods which may never recover economically from said rioting is also bad, especially when the local cops have been ordered to allow it to happen.
