Honestly, spanking is just bad, under any circumstance. It's ineffective at best and abusive at its worst. Fact is though, most of the time you can't reason with the snot-nosed little brats. What I've found effective is to heat a potato-peeler on the stove for ten minutes or so, and then just slide the tip of it into the kiddo's urethra, or their anus.
