That article was written in early february before tens of thousands of people died, at that point in time almost no one had it in America and almost no one had died.

Also the article is warning of overly aggressive government response because they tend to lead to racists freaking out and wanting harsh repercussions towards the suspected group that "caused" it (which you can pretty clearly see happening in this thread).

Is context actually important anymore or what? Isn't this exactly the problem with dumb shit like this?
Sorry I failed to provide the context!

Ok here we go:

During mid-January, alarmed at the tone of the quotes I was seeing from virologists and other scientists regarding the new Wuhan virus, I looked into the statistics and took a closer look at the biology. Knowing that like all the other viruses ever it was going to spread, I noted it's high transmissibility and a general sense of urgency from people dealing with it.

I then ordered a case of P100 masks, goggles, gloves, and enough alcohol to fuel a funny car. I received my delivery on Jan 28th and tried on my mask and goggles. I thought it was a good look for me so I took a picture and started this thread:

Six days later some dumb fuck over at WaPo wrote the article in question. When any reasonable person would have been asking for an aggressive response, he was warning people against it because he was having feelings that something minor might possibly happen. Not because the vaccine or the treatment is dangerous or something real. No, he was scaring people away from supporting a more aggressive response because he imagines demons under his bed.

Anyway, I'm not claiming it's the left or the right. My list was a response to some inane comment that only 'right-wing' people are being tools about the pandemic. Both the left and the right and the center is full of complete idiots who give people bad advice about everything, and to say it's only one side of the political spectrum reveals that person to be hopelessly siloed and brainwashed.
