I had to kill "a maid" in the balcony room to get Lady McCabe to spawn, which gives a faction hit to "HighHoldCitizens", so you don't want to do this too often. I went to apprehensively with some NPC in high hold.
If I go to the Allakhazam page for this quest (
http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?quest=137) it says this should happen:
You say, 'Tell me about the staff segments'
Lady McCabe says 'I have no idea what you are talking about. Battle staff.. Hmmm.. No, it does not ring a bell.'
But when I say that, she doesn't respond to me.
Also, I gave her one of the staff segments, but she just ate it without saying anything.
I then went to the bank assistant with HK 401 to get the staff segment back, but she wouldn't take it. Probably because I still have had that other LORE staff segment.
I then gave the other staff segment to Lady McCabe, but she ate that also.
I then went to the bank assistant again to hand the key, since I didn't have any staff segments anymore, but she still would not take it...?
I then went to Lady McCabe and fed her the key also.
