I liked the idea of this thread but probably isn't advisable for any real reason in the future. As the seller would always take (at no fault to themselves) a "buyout price" if you will. You cant ignore a big offer and go stick to your auction.
Perhaps if doing it in future, bid it and put "if you bid 8k it's yours" type of disclaimer.
