I favor how
Bandcamp does this. For example you can listen to any album or song. The standard is digital but some artists will release on cassette, vinyl, CD. Some go even further into the weird formats like MiniDisc, 3.5 Floppy for computer, Reel. Priced accordingly and usually in limited amounts. If something proves popular enough it will get a re-release.
If Steam did this with computer games I would gripe slightly less. (but that still doesn't remove consolitus)
