Well the thing about racism is that there's no real definition. Everything in the world is made up. And as for racism, it's a completely nebulous cloud of subjective interpretation in everyone's individual bubbles which we all catapult our opinions from. It's generalized and it's more of a feeling. It's more nuance and art than science. A permeation that pervades society in wilty whispy whispers. And if you were determined to show this you can find racism/discrimination if you grab any large dataset and get to work.
I'm not talking about
overt racial prejudice. We all know what that shit looks like. What I'm talking about is that everyone kind of has their own different idea of what "racism" is, and it's much more subtle because it has to be. It got beaten down from loud and proud to hushed tone and murmurs.
The way I look at racism is kind of like playing a game that has a luck score. And when you're experiencing racism, you're experiencing bad luck.
You get less benefit of doubt. Your dice rolls on job offers are lower. People treat you differently. You get paid more attention to in stores. Sometimes people cross streets to avoid you. People don't make eye contact with you. Basically, take every situation you can think of, and then imagine if it just went slightly worse.. and curve it down like 10-20%. And that's how I view racism. Just a torporific slothy net that gets thrown on top of society by dumb dumbs and closed minded people. Basically, shit just doesn't go your way.
So there's like all these people that want to go all "yahooooooooo raaaace war!!!!!" but they can't because that's dumb and smart people have told them that's dumb. So those feelings people have get pushed down and compressed cause they were told they can't do that whole race war thing and then they just leak out in tiny little seemingly innocuous ways. Because nobody honestly believes racism is completely gone, so it has to go somewhere, so it'll go to the paths of least resistance. Letting off steam like little poofs of smoke in the name of Jamal the erudite or Tupac.
Go find me a white person named Jamal.
