I doubt you did the math yourself, or you'd likely be singing a different tune.
~4 chloroplasts per hour turned into mana via manastone less mana costs of the chloros is approximately 10 minutes of med ticks.
If it takes 50 hours to get a stone, you'd only need a couple hours a day of active playtime for the rest of classic for the stone to have been worth the camp... Plus you still have the stone going forward to either use or sell.
It gets much more useful for selective farming and PLing and porting and stuff, too, with the potential for fungi tunic regen, regrowth instead of just chloro (potentially mana free regrowths too), robe of the spring clicks, higher base regen at 51+, etc.
