Yes, the enchanter can't fight worth a damn, their pet is stupid (which isn't always a bad thing) and has very few hitpoints, and their spells are resisted way too often even with Tashan (heck Tashan itself gets resisted too much).

It had its resist modifier changed in the May 24th 1999 patch. In fact there were several changes made to this spell and you may want to check the spdat.eff off the launch CD to get the full original state of these spells.
