yes, and only post that mentions their speed that is near to era is a 2000 post all other mention that snearing them or darkness them you can easy keep them out of melee range, Not one reply about that they should be faster than normal.
it's kinda hard to prove a negative but there should be atleast ONE post complaining about their speed if they where faster than other mobs.
Only thing the posts mention are that they are easy to charm and you can use one to kill multiple red con mobs in a row, indicating that they should have below normal charm resist and above normal dps.
And you get one blue exp at level 16 and half a blue at level 18 for each kill, with that kind of exp from the kills, one would think that you would find at least one post about them being super fast.

As a lvl 18 bard I am practicing on these so I'll be ready for Griffiens in another 5 levels. They are surprisingly slow for a winged creature. Twisting selos without a drum I kept having to wait to keep it in Belo range. Plenty of druids around just pay for SOW you dont have to use Selos. Then you can twist denons and belo for more damage. Alternate between melee and running with belo and heal song to finish it off more quickly.

These things were made for kiting, as long as they don't resist too often. Snare, DD, stay out of their reach. If they resist too much, try to cast panic/terrorize animal. If they resist that, run for your life, these things will tear through a druid like we're a wet paper bag.

It's easier and more mana efficient to snare, DoT, fear. Med while the DoT does it's work. Repeat as needed. It may take longer but the fear usually sticks. Better yet, charm another griff and let it do the killing for you. Just keep gate up in case things get out of control.

For melee classes these things are a major undercon, don't melee one without a partner that can heal you, or snare/fear it.

I have been soloing these at 16 with Fear-Darkness-DoT strategy. I was at full health when done and 1 bubble of mana left. just make sure to re-cast fear and Darkness since they will drop quickly. med in between and let your pet skelly do the work. Since at 16 they are yellow and white for me, they make for great xp solo. Yet another reason why Necros rock.

Starting at level 14, a druid can just snare, Stinging Swarm, and fear them. Then sit down and meditate. When fear wears off (and now it even tells you when SS wears off), just reapply.

Another tactic is to charm them and have them attack other things. Not suggested for the charismatically challenged races though. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] When they are low on hp, break charm by hiding and then finish them off.
