I don't know how things should be. But I do know theres a Light Source page which lists certain items and what their priority is. Some things are less bright with a higher priority.

Very cool. This explains why if I use a Fire Beetle Eye, it often trumps the other light sources. I also didn't know there were purple lights. Thanks!
