May 1999. A small startup in New York. 10PM. We're done with work, getting ready to head home, one of the sysadmins is still at her station. I walk over, she shows me Everquest. I played UO and Wizardry, I know what's up. She shows me the characters, brief game play, and we wind up talking about the game while she has the character screen up. I ask her how come she has all these characters? She says she plays one and the others are just holding some names she's fond of. So I reach over and click delete and delete one of her name mules. She's sputtering, turning all kinds of colors, busy creating the character again to get her name back - I'm laughing "I guess that name meant a lot to you!" Oh how she hated my ass after that, but I thought as a sysadmin she should have known better. I started playing EQ two weeks later
