Update:
I am able to log in now. Normally I download the updates and extract directly into the Sony/EverQuest folder. It said "replace 720 files" when I installed and had issues still logging in.
After I posted I extracted the zip files into a new folder, and then dragged those files into the EQ directory and it asked "do you want to replace 731 files" now it worked and I can now play.
