Todd Phillips is pushing back on recent criticism that his upcoming film “Joker,” starring Joaquin Phoenix, might promote real-world violence.
“We didn’t make the movie to push buttons,” Phillips told TheWrap’s Sharon Waxman in an interview last Friday about the filmmaking process. To the issue of controversy over the movie, Phillips confesses confusion. “Isn’t it good to have these discussions? Isn’t it good to have these discussions about these movies, about violence?”
