That's the least of reasons why it died. It's dead because he released a server with 0 group or raid PvE content and pretty bad PvP balance where being hit by a green con shaman pet for 1 damage basically caused a 99% chance of spell interruption.
If you didn't get interrupted, CC spells landed almost every time so each fight you either completely obliterated your opponent or you automatically lose due to not being able to channel anything.
Since EQ PvP servers are 50% PvE and 50% PvP, you can't have a successful server if you don't get both right.
