Well the corporate media seems to have successfully white washed the centuries of conservative intolerance. They did this by televising the biggest grand standing idiots in history -- corporate democrats -- to the point where no one could actually identify with that party unless they were head nodding virtue signalers.
The real progressive forces in the country is behind people like Andrew Yang and Bernie Sanders -- but you would never know it by watching TV or reading conservative papers.
If you started following politics in the past few years alone, you would get the since that Democrats stand for immigration, racial politics, and Russia scare mongering. Nothing else. And as far as establishment Democrats go, that seems to be the case.
Meanwhile, the homophobic/transphobic, pro-segregation conservative base, is now posturing like their the tolerant ones because a few years ago some kids prevented Milo-Yannopoulos from speaking (his big political point was trans girls shouldn't be able to use public women's rooms god damnit! -- insert gay ass girly voice to soften the blow).
Due to confirmation bias, the avidly racist following in the Republican party is brushed aside as "fringe" and "non-representative" (despite that these same people will probably admit to being racist themselves if pressed in private). The Berkeley kids however, 100% representative of anyone who isn't Republican. It least in the mind of your average alt-right meme following jackass.
One thing is for sure, they got no ideas about how to actually get anyone decent healthcare who doesn't have it. Or solve the college affordability problems. Or do anything to address the fact that the working class is getting progressively more broke.
Just a bunch of nihilistic slogans and self-help nonsense that passes for policy.
