Pretty hard to beat ebon mace for its cost effectiveness. Personally, I shy away from class restricted weapons because I'm a cheap bastard and would prefer weapons I can use on a bunch of different toons. So I'd look into something like an exquisite vel brawlstick, even if it costs twice as much.

I had an Ebon Mace and a Massive Velium Axe for my ogre sk (lvl 32) and ended up selling the Ebon for this same reason. Plus it wasn't winning any fashion contests.
If I was a small SK w/o slam it would be way more tempting to keep and just plunk away. Maybe things will change in the 50's when I'm scrambling for that extra bit of AC/hps.
