Yeah, hybrids sound like a lot more fun. I know going in my dps would be far lower, but I think I'd have a lot more fun with a ranger/sk. I'm just really torn between the two at this point. SK seems like easier groups, but also a bit more obligation (harder to replace the tank if something comes up). And ranger epic seems doable as a filthy casual without dedicating years to the pursuit, which is a nice plus.
I really appreciate all the feedback from everyone. Momotion had a good idea about a druid, so thinking of shaving off 5-10kish and rolling a porter as well. I know I could spend a less, but then I don't look as cool with my FashionQuest, which is half the fun.

FashionQuest is the true end-game. Also, easy / cheap fashion: Brown Chitin BP, Black Chitin Leggings, find out what else matches!
With 40k, you could do something like this:
ARMOR:
RBG: 17-18k
2x SCW: 8-8.5k, don't pay 5k per
Pair of 6 AC/65 HP rings: 900pp
65 HP/65 MP Neck: 900-1000pp
Crystal Spider Eyes: 1000pp
PSC: 1.5-1.8k
[SK] Darkforge for fashion or Crystal Chitin for Boots, Arms, Hands, Legs, Idol of the Thorned for Range since you pull with spells or clickies on a SK
[Ranger] Black Chitin Legs, Tolan's Arms, Boots, Hands, Bracer
WEAPONS:
[SK]: Atramentous Shield, Ebon Mace, Deathbringer's Rod, Noctivagant Blade, A Dark Reaver or Nathsar Greatsword
[Ranger]: Lupine Dagger, Jade Mace, Lamentation, Woodsman's Staff, Silver Swiftblade, 30/40 Velium Bow
Have time on my hands, and invested in your thread already, so here's some ideas for you to consider.
EDIT: Or Fungi Tunic. Obviously a must-have...
