If you care to look into it, check out the thread history from Throndor on the DBG forums. The discussion is still there on the old thread from 2 or 3 years ago. I wouldn't say it was the majoritive opinion of "the community" rather, calling the trend out on the forums caused a lot of people exploiting said ability to ride on the exp-work of others to join in on the thread disingenuously defending themselves from the narrative of actual players within the community.
