Technically he didn't stiff him yet. OP didn't deliver the presumed original agreement which was 2 earrings for 20k. OP can wash his hands of him after he's paid for one and not give him the second for the 10k, which is probably what the buyer is concerned with given OPs reputation.

Not exactly. The deal has clearly gone south. He did get half of what he bargained for...and has paid nothing for it. Even if you don't think he owes him half the original agreed upon payment he definitely owes him something...which he hasn't paid him (i.e. stiff him).
