isn't sharia liek ultra-conservative? i think it may be irresponsible to frame it as leftist just because it is authoritarian. the right can be authoritarian too and just because some leftists support sharia or sharia-liek practices as the sacred right of people to live as they please, doesn't mean that all or the even most left-leaning people support cutting of hands for theft or stoning people. the vast majority of left-leaning persons do not support those things. But then, they don't identify as leftists either. those normal people identify as liberals or sometimes progressives, though sometimes leftists prefer the latter.
