Sell me on what makes daoc fun? I tried a free emu server a while ago and was totally lost.

It's known for the RVR, but the PVE is also fun.
I usually play melee characters on games, and daoc has the best combat system imo. With combos and positioning, it's fun to play melee.
DAOC also has a ton of classes, so that's great if you're an altaholic.
But the RVR is where it shines. I tend to avoid PVP like the plague on games, but it's different on DAOC.
There's a lot of keep defense/attacking, so it always feels like some huge event.
You can make battering rams and then everyone can jump inside to move the ram, you can make catapults, which enemy rogues can sabotage.
Also rogues can climb castle walls, so if you like rogues, they are so awesome in this game.
Taking keeps gives bonuses to all players in your realm, so there's real incentive to do it.
There's also a PVE dungeon that you can unlock for your realm, but all realms can acess it, so if another realm captures it and you're inside, they can hunt you down. It's a really cool concept.
