First off, bards are difficult to play well. In my opinion, one of, if not the most difficult class to actually play to it's full potential in a group. It requires constant twisting of songs, constant song swapping from your spell book, you have a song for every situation, and the situation is always changing. And constant target swapping, and target tracking to make sure your properly cycling your mezzes so one doesn't fade, timing your charms so you've recharged as its breaking so the druid doesn't root it and make it just another thing you have to mez, etc.
All that being said, I friggin love my bard. But, be ready for a challenge. You will constantly be hassled for playing the wrong song. Told you cant tank, and are a bad puller (both are lies, have bard tanked C/E, puppets in PoM, faydedar, and many other higher tier targets, granted, have good gear, and bards are one of the best pullers)
You are in for a challenge, and a whole lot of fun if you stick with it. Bards are the most active class in the game when played right, always something you could be doing to benefit the group, always.
Read that wiki page about the bard songs, learn the differences between them, which ones stack with eachother, and which ones do what, if you can learn them all, and know exactly what you have and need when you need it. Your already better than 50% of the bards out there.
Tldr- bard hard, bard fun, good luck
