I don't think anyone's telling you that you can't study it -- religious studies in a historical sense is fascinating. I think that anyone with any sort of brain is saying that you shouldn't believe the fairy tales as anything more than allegories, fables, and loosely documented history mixed in with social laws and rules organized by the ruling class at the time, depending who translated that particular copy.

Thats where you're mistaken. Institutionalized religion has been suppressing this information for centuries. Islam and christianity alike. We are finally entering a realm where religion is no longer holding the keys of what is acceptable and unacceptable to think of the divine, but now the western world wants to import an increasingly dogmatic institutionalized religion into our culture because they think theyve got everything figured out, and that they can deprogram fundamentalist islam with reconstructionist rabble so that its not going to be a threat to people like me who have been being exterminated under the wide description of heretics for the past 1800 years.
