Maybe it won't work, but I think we have to try. Some of us actually care about the plight of low skilled workers. Also, the St Louis Fed claims that we have 400,000 more manufacturing jobs than we did before Trump was elected, about a 3.5% increase over two years. And Trump really has only started with the tariffs. And before you give Obama credit for this, manufacturing jobs were essentially flat for the last two years he was in office.

Also, I'm going to assume you agree that a flood of illegal immigrants will lower wages for America's poor.
I don't think there's a clamoring of low skill, poor workers lining up to pick fruits/veggies which is what the overwhelming majority of migrants end up doing. Basically kitchen work is the only low-skill job that people would be pushed out of that I can think of.
