Except even they were immigrants, with their own sordid mostly forgotten history of the rise and fall of empires committing genocide against tribes deemed their enemies, slavery, cannibalism etc. The majority of "latin americans" are just that, Latin, as in descended from Spanish Conquistadors and their raping, murdering, and displacing of the indigenous people who preceded them for an unknown period of time.
