Just because something is difficult or expensive does not mean it should not be done if it's in the public interest or preserving our environment. Do you think we should go back to the way we were doing things before the 60s and just throw our trash wherever? Spray CFCs into the air? Dump toxic chemicals into our waterways?
We can reduce our reliance on petroleum fuel in steps - doesn't have to be in one fell swoop. Some is better than none. I know change is scary to you folk when you don't see anyone besides your first cousin-wife, but it's not the end of the world. You can keep sayin' your prayers hoping the South will rise again while the rest of us get on with our lives.
