It's because they've never been around firearms, so that ignorance breeds fear and then the only time they hear about the US is because a shooting happened.
I have met Europeans who actually thought the average American has been shot at least once.
This is how ignorant they are.
And yet they stand at the pulpit of pretension, telling us all what's really going on and how we should conduct ourselves.
