Throwing it out there because I wasn't exactly positive when I rolled a Monk, but looking it up, the Monk damage mitigation change (hooo boy do I ever remember this causing much butthurt) didn't come until October 16th, 2002.
Luclin launched December 4th, 2001; so if you were wondering if at a later date your Monk would tank like a "wet paper bag" as it was so affectionately described to me years ago, rest assured this will not be the case.
Unless the developers deem otherwise.
Also Iksar Shaman cannot equip the racial Kunark armor. Pretty sure their regen is the same as the Troll's, but there are armor limitations to consider if they mean anything to you.
