Patton was wrong.
In our quest to defy and defeat the USSR, we really honed (or effectively faked, if you're pessimistic) our free and liberal values.
Invading Russia would've set off a truly power hungry hegemony for at least half a century.
Think NSA spy programs, but starting in the 1950s, on a global scale.
Power must be checked. Even ours.
