I made it to 53 on my necro still wearing small cloth pants.... my single most expensive piece of equipment is the runed cowl from Lguk.
It's not because I can't afford upgrades, its because there's no point. I haven't felt like i needed more mana, or hp up to this point. Now I'm starting to feel it a bit in the rougher Kunark zones, but up until this point? Have had absolutely no need to. You're in your 30's now, not likely to be meleeing and probably have your pet to do the work for you. Just focus on leveling to 50+, if you want to upgrade gear, then try to Xp in dungeons that will drop upgrades for you and try to win the rolls. IMO its not worth putting the effort in now to try and upgrade.
