Well but both of those sites are now filled with unclassic information, so without the wiki we'd be even farther from how it was in classic.
But really it's that whole classic rules vs. classic environment/experience issue. Project 1999 provides a server with a classic
ruleset. OT Hammers (acquired with Puppet Strings at least) and Midnight Mallets clearly weren't a part of the classic experience for most of us, but they were technically a part of the rules so we still have them here.
The fact that everyone now knows about those items is very unclassic, but that's an
environment/experience issue. We can never go back to not knowing about that stuff: that ship sailed in '99. Since we can't mind wipe players IRL the only way to remove that stuff would be to literally remove it from the game, but then the server wouldn't have classic rules anymore.
TLDR; A server can either have classic rules or a classic environment, not both. P99 chooses to worry about the classic rules, not about unclassic wiki information, auction trackers, GINA voice triggers, etc. Plus, without the wiki we'd have no web resource at all, which would be even less classic.
