If Youtube is a the main site everyone uploads videos to on the internet, and they're "hosting" everyone else's speech. It strikes me as a very different thing than -- for example -- a canceled a college lecturer. Not everyone gets a room to speak in at colleges with college advertising etc...

There are a handful of sites on the internet that platforms for everyone that just about everyone goes to. It is somewhat arbitrary. If everyone started using Myspace, Myspace would be that platform. These platforms are the modern method of communicating ideas.

I don't want anymore news gatekeepers. And that is precisely what this trial balloon is about. See when you want more power to spy on people, you talk terrorists and pedofiles. When you talk about deplatforming news making it more difficult to reach people -- you talk about Alex Jones.

But this is not about Alex Jones. It's about whether or not it is OK for some unelected corporate board to -- more or less secretly -- control our news.
