Basically large intestine breaks down fiber into medium chain fatty acids and absorbs water. That's it. So if I eat veggies I shit out chewed veggies. I'm not sure if I can get nutrients out of the veggies. My surgeon says to just take vitamin supplements. I essentially have a canine digestive system now. Protein, carbs, and fats.
It's a relatively new surgery so no one knows much. I'm a living experiment. As I said, I do what I can to make up for lost nutrients. I may die at 70. But I wasn't gonna make it past 35 so it's all a win
