Mobs will only drop items you give them when they were charmed. So this will never work for turn ins to any uncharmed mob. Propably will never work on quest mobs even if charmed but never tried it tbh.
Is it the right Spirit? There are two.
Exact locs for Spirit Sentinels in EJ are at:
- To start test +1235.01, +285.34 (in the hut, NW from CoM)
- +3854.30, -687.73 (underwater, in the lake)
You will need the one in the hut for this part.
If it is, it sounds like a faction issue, you can repeat parts of the quest to raise your faction to counter this.
The turn in is only a faction boost. You can skip it by repeating other steps until he answers the line 'I will continue what I have started.' if you want to keep going from that point.
For the entire epic you just need faction, no turn in except the last one is mandatory (you'll obviously will want the boots ofc too). How you achieve that faction does not matter.
