I like those and IPAs as well. If you're in Texas and especially austin, try 512's Pecan Porter. It's overpriced but pretty good, a favorite of mine.

I've had that, it's pretty decent you're right. Some of my favorites are Ogden's Double Chocolate Stout, Dragon's Milk

IPAs are for peasants. The only proper gentleman's choice of carbonated libation are Belgian ales. Chimay and Duvel should be your beginner choices at the very least.
Chimay is also usually $10 per bottle, but very tasty
