I would never participate in a NBG pickup group. If an item drops that could be used by someone immediately, and the value of the item is lower then what I'd consider being worth trying to sell I'll pass my roll on it, but I'd never be like "well, soandso needs it so it goes to him no matter what."
I'd have called him out on it, in group, then rolled and posted about it (slow day at work, need more forum drama to entertain me).
