That's actually really great news, as it means the content is still there, it's just that either:
A) it's corrupted in a way that only affects some people (it sounds like maybe only Chrome users), or
B) the problem is at the web server layer, not the filesystem
Either way I still think it's something significant enough to be solved, but I'll happily lower the severity level of this service ticket

I guess the real question now is what changed? Did a new version of Chrome break things, or did the server admins (for instance) recently update some software that compresses images?
