Are you dead-set on plain/patternless? How about a Robe of the Oracle? It’s mostly blue with some designs that could complement a water pet. Plus...where does it come from again?

The Robe of the Triumvirate from Naxot Deepwater is a plain and pretty blue, but no-rent. I believe there is no faction hit for killing her (poor thing).
