Xaanka, the problem with your theory is that race isn't particularly more unifying than anything else. It's just one of the tribes people organize around. It has been shown that even when people identify as a certain race -- that identity is not stable unless culturally maintenced.

The best case-study for this Burma. There are a vast number of ethnic groups that comprise about 20% of the population in the surrounding hills, the rest being of the primary ethnic group civilized around the low-lying river lands.

These groups have shifted over time. Most people in these groups are ignorant of their cultural customs and history. Yet there is conflict and fighting. Some groups have combined with a whole new ethnic story modifying their previous histories.

There is nothing particularly stable about ethnic groups. In fact, something that elites have discovered is that ethnic groups can be changed and manipulated. You can create identities and destroy them.

We can organize people around state rather than race....the problem is that people need a sense of identity with the nation...I agree that some aspects of multi-culturalism are proving to be a problem here. We will all quietly acknowledge this, slow immigration down, and pretend that we all still believe immigration was fine and nothing was wrong with any of our multi-cultural ideas.

But the white supremacists piping up with a bunch of explanations about how they were right all along is nothing helping anything.

Edit: Here is the ultimate coalition, Anti-immigrant, Anti-establishment (anti-bureaucracy) Socialism. There isn't anything socialist want to change with our legal structure that we need to conservatives to fight them on. Except perhaps immigration. Meanwhile, there is no use creating a bunch of government programs when all the cost goes to bureaucracies there to ensure no one ever benefits from the program but them.
