but you're also missing the deterrent factor. having to use secret tunnels and even know where they are and the smugglers who operate them in the first place is above most people who come here, seeing as they're not literate in spanish these days. i imagine the language/culture barrier in mexico would also be pretty effective at keeping the illegal arabs out (fuckloads are using the southern border now; they get counted as hispanic in stats because they disguise their appearance and get fake citizenship in the looser regulated SA countries along their way, in order to get into mexico, which strictly regulates and has walled its southern border) which is a pretty solid boon to national security. just having the wall there will keep 90% people home.

but i agree it's a waste of money

unless you can propose a viable alternative like i have though, your opinion's kinda valueless. the majority of this country including the majority of non white people agree this is an issue that needs to be addressed.

You made a good point about the tunnels accessibility. You have to deal with Coyotes and they collect passport copies and identification of everyone they help transfer through the border. They do this so they can follow them and extort them as they live in the United States. Once you put a Coyote in your life, they never leave. They demand money or threaten deportation or death. Many tunnels and "underground railroads" are operated by such Coyotes who don't care if you die. Coyotes have left entire containers full of people to die on train tracks without unlocking the locks.

Access to tunnels is not something available to the public and its beneath all but the most desperate.
