It will highly discourage new players who aren't going to have guilds to join when they start. At least with teams you have comrades to adventure/pvp with.
Notice the only people opposed to teams are those who will potentially be in those top guilds.
They would hate to have to have competition by having two or three guilds from the opposing faction come in and wreck them.
They want server domination, don't give it to them.

It's hilarious cuz you're 100% right. Then they will cry endlessly after they've driven all competition off of the server due to duping, exploits, MQ2 etc.
Remember how every member of Heresy had full sets of diamond/BD resist gear and nobody else on the server did!?!?
