TLDR
Jake thinks blood guard means guarding actual blood, he then parlays into them trying to prepare for Luclin because of the coterie(vampires, want your blood). Which then leads to his stream of consciousness thought that maybe corpse art is a way for us on Norrath to communicate to our new and improved cat lords.
