I have just returned to play EQ again. Played originally up to Kunark then quit. Back then I got my enchanter up to into the 40's not for sure exact level. I do remember their pets being very lackluster. Enchanters are more about crowd control than anything else and especially when you start crowd controlling and mezzing you will rarely have your pet up. They are kamikaze pets and you have no control over and will break mezz's. If you really like pet classes then maybe look into necro's or mages.
