Your analogy could be improved by equating namys action to accidentally hitting your bumper and your action to then crashing your car bc you panicked and accelerated into traffic.

It doesn't matter. He is the cause. The analogy fits and he's just as culpable. But for his train I would have been sitting there minding more own business, properly pulling as I had done before he arrived. The onus is on him.
