The shit gets nerfed, as in, at a certain point - the shit that drops - at that point - will be nerfed. Not the items that are being sold. It won't overnight have it's stats changed, unless I am seriously mistaken.

I Don't know if you are new to EQ or not but it seems you are seriously mistaken.
MCT and Fungi Robe did get a retroactive nerf on live.
MCT is currently 3 10 primary/second, which is amazing. At some point, assuming they do what was done on live, all MCTs will be nerfed to secondary only and shortly after will stop dropping.
Fungi Robe, again assumming devs follow what was done on live, will have its regen ability removed retroactively. For some reason it also stayed on as the rare IIRC for quite some time and Fungi Tunic remained as the common drop for all of Kunark and maybe all of Velious too.
So while overpaying for a CoS may seem kind of crappy, someone buying a MCT or fungi robe is gonna get a rude awakening one day if they didn't already know what was going to happen.
It probably isn't going to happen but it would be cool if maybe the Devs could add some text on the item stating that it will be nerfed to such and such stats at a later date so people aren't ripped off.
