Actually he is 100% right. Friends from my unit work for ICE, DEA, cops and Transportation police both fed level and local - things they can do now you couldn't even joke trying to do to people prior to 9-11.

One of the programs is DEA SOD it basically allows the DEA full access to NSA data.
Same goes for ICE.
What is funny is how they pussyfoot about it. For example if I steal your identity, call you to tell you and say "lol fuck u kid, just put a house in your name good luck with that credit rating lmao" You can record the call, have the phone call timestamp, and the Secret Service will STILL claim that they cannot do anything unless you have a name of a person that they can accuse of this crime, or someone that the victim can accuse. So if you don't actually know who the hacker is, there is still nothing they can do. They can only check the number to see if it matches the person or the name of the accused you gave them, they can't do anything about anonymous attacks...So they claim. We know they trace but only for rich people or businessmen.
Court rulings also have recently been in favor of the DEA using warrantless cellphone tracking to hunt suspects (the problem with it is, the phones are not even registered to the person they are tracking, and the phones are not actually registered to anyone...opening the door for this to apply to everyone across the board)
