Granted - it isn't a large implementation, it's a small enterprise layout. I was just wishing to show that yes you can indeed have a high density and expect reasonable performance. The majority of the vms are running low-volume websites with various back-ends so they don't need much in the way of resources. There's also 3 other clusters involved - there are requirements as to what data can reside on the same physical hardware as other types of data, so there is both a physical and logical separation involved.
And just to set the thread straight... I was agreeing with daf's comment about the person bashing vmware needing to return to their day job. I should have written that more clearly.
