Clerics can solo, but are not terribly good at it. If you can find good places to solo undead then you are in better shape.
Mages and necros solo the best in classic, although mages get hosed a bit from 50-60. Shamans and ench both solo pretty well also, with shamans being insanely powerful in the high 50s. At level 60 a shaman is likely the most powerful soloer in the game.
